Is Chaos Our New Norm?

First the Plague, then Riots, then came the Blackouts!

Does this sound like the title of an end of the world movie or riveting novel?

Well it’s Not!

Its our current life!

The Plague:

By now the entire earth has been on stay at home orders for at least 3 months due to the Coronavirus/Covid19.

All Countries & the US are beginning to slowly allow us back into society while practicing “social distancing”, a term we never used prior to the Coronavirus.

The Riots:

Sadly, our country is still having unfathomable racial issues & our people are suffering from horrific police brutality.

Peaceful protest for change are being demonstrated all over the world, sparked by the horrific murder of George Floyd.

“Protesters around the world are calling for police reform and an end to systemic racism”.

There has never been public displays of unity like this. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

Then the bad;

Along with the peaceful protest came the opportunity for opportunist to riot & loot.

States are imposing curfews and boarding up businesses following accounts of violence & looting.

Words I have only heard in movies & stories.

The Blackouts:

Then came the severe thunderstorms & tornado warnings.

We got hit with a mini hurricane, it was enough to loose electric for 3 days in 90 degree weather. Some 175,000 people in Phila & NJ went without electric for days.

This next part might sound shallow.

At this point in our lives with all that’s been going on for the past 3 months, loosing electric, internet & WiFi is enough to put us over the edge.

Loosing our only life lines while still stuck in the house from the virus, is the last straw!

Now, I ask you…. does this all sound like a movie to you? Because it sounds like a fictional movie to me, yet it’s not a story or movie or novel, it’s our life in June of 2020.

As my Mother will constantly remind me, these will be the stories I tell my children & grandchildren in years to come.

While they laugh at me & say it couldn’t have been that bad & accuse me of exaggerating.

This is No exaggeration by any means.

I will have them refer to my archives on this blog for the info!

Praying things begin to get better.

Hopeful that the strong protest make real change in America as well as across the globe.

May jobs report: largest monthly job gain ever recorded.

Hopefully we have hit rock bottom & it’s only up from here. ??

Stay safe,

Sky Rota
